I’m New Here
Welcome to South Valley!
It is our hope that you will find this site both informing and encouraging, and that it will prompt you to visit us sometime in the near future. Our church gathers every Sunday for our main service at 10:45am and we regularly offer of variety of Sunday afternoon or evening studies, as well as Bible study groups that meet in homes throughout the week.
What is a church anyway?
Church it’s kind of an elusive term, isn’t it? Everyone seems to have a different idea of what it is or ought to be. The Bible is clear – church is not something you do, it’s not a gathering or a club, and it’s not a building or a program. The church is a band of brothers and sisters, a “fellowship of the heart”. The creation of the Church is God’s doing. He brings people who live in the real world into a unique relationship with Himself and with others. Church is not a meeting necessarily, but it does occur when we meet together. Church is not an ideology that we subscribe to as much as it is becoming like Christ. Church is our collective identity as followers of God. Who we are determines what we do, and the Bible refers to the Church as a family who share in the common-unity of loving and living Christ.
We know that visiting a church for the first time can be a bit daunting – so let us assure you that we will seek to make it a welcoming one. We truly look forward to meeting you!
